Interaction
Interaction happens when an objects actions influences another objects actions. This Kinect video next to me is a video example of human interaction with a scripted program running on the Xbox. The childs body movement is detected by the kinect camera and influences the fictional, on-screen character (the tiger). The kinect sensebar has 2 cameras inbuilt into it, to detect the depth of the childs movements aswell as the 2d side-to-side movements made. This element makes the movement as realistic and freeflowing thus as reactive and responsive as possible.
XBOX 360 KINECT INTERACTION
Andy Camerons argues that interactivity implies an audience actively controlling the outcome of something, for example art peice. Cameron, in his essay 'Dissimilations' argues that interaction is the process of controlling representation and meaning. "interactivity in music would mean the ability to change the sound".
On the Left side is an example of interactivity integrated into a digital narrative available on the Apple Ipad. The reader is actively given several choices which inturn controls the outcome of the next narrative scene. Morris Lessmore books also give the child simple fun activities which dont effect the narrative outcome for example basic colouring in.
