National Maritime museum- High Arctic
My experience through the high arctic interactive installment.
At first, the atmosphere is rather daunting, your eyes take a while to adjust to the contrast in darkness and harsh lighting, however once you aquaint yourself with the surroundings you can begin interacting with the environment. Similarly to 'Mezzo Moderno Mezzo Distruto', High Arctic installation prompts us to question our relationship with our surroundings paying particular attention to the environmental impact carbon emmissions are having on the polar ice caps.

We were given UV torches to shine on the styrofoam blocks which revealed names of iceberges. When the torch is shined on the floor, a number of things can happen, one of which being a world map, another is square blocks breaking up, resembling the disintegration of the melting ice. In the background, voices of arctic explorers are played.
